Alterowany pieniek z motylem / An altered stump slice with a butterfly

Pracuję nad małą kolekcją alterowanych pieńków - właśnie powstał drugi (pierwszy można znaleźć tu). Mówię/piszę to już któryś raz z kolei, aż się zaczynam niepokoić, ale kolory nadal się mnie trzymają. Korciło mnie straszliwie, ale na tym pieńku nie użyłam żadnego (żadnego!) brązowego medium. :)

I've been working on a small collection of altered stump pieces - I've just finished the second one (the first one can be found here). It's not the first time I'm saying/writing this, and it's beginning to worry me, but I'm still all about colour. I didn't use any (any!) brown mediums on this stump slice, though it wasn't easy. :)

Ten mały szklany klosz Tima Holtza chodził za mną już od dawna, a kiedy w końcu dostałam go do rąk, długo myślałam o tym jak go wykorzystać. W końcu postanowiłam, że dostanie swojego motyla i wyląduje na środku magicznej łąki. 

The small glass dome from Tim Holtz has been on my mind for a long time and when I finally got my hands on it I thought long about how to use it. Finally I decided to give it its own butterfly and install it in the middle of a magic meadow. 

Motyla wycięłam z papierów TH Collage, pokolorowałam tuszami Distress i pokryłam Glossy Accents. Motyl 'lata' na cienkim przezroczystym pasku przyklejonym do korkowej podstawy klosza. Dookoła ułożyłam kwiaty wycięte ze starego papieru książkowego Sizzixowymi Mini Tattered Florals i pokolorowane Distressami. Jest też dużo kolorwanej Distressami gazy, stara dziurka od klucza i plakietka z serii Idea-ology pokolorwana tuszem alkoholowym. No i moje nowe ulubione farby Metallic! 13arts, których zdolność do mieszania się i dawania niesamowitych kolorów nie przestaje mnie zaskakiwać. Jest tu też odrobina biało-srebrnej farby brokatowej i białego tuszu Splash!.

I cut out the butterfly from the Collage paper collection, coloured it with Distress Inks and covered with Glossy Accents. The butterfly is 'flying' on a strip of acetate that is glued to the cork dome base. I surrounded the dome with flowers cut out from old book paper with the Sizzix Mini Tattered Florals - the flowers were coloured with Distress Inks. There is also lots of cheesecloth coloured with a Distress Ink-water mixture, an old key hole and an Idea-ology plaque, which I coloured with alcohol ink. Finally I used my new favourite Metallic! paints from 13arts, whose ability to mix and give beautiful colours does not cease to amaze me. There's also a tiny bit of the white-silver glitter paint and white Splash! ink.

Jutowy album / A burlap album

Nie samym papierem człowiek żyje. :) Siedzę znów w albumach, ale tym razem za bazę posłużyła mi juta - dawno już marzył mi się taki albumik. Całość utrzymana w bieli i czerni, wewnątrz znalazły się powycinane zdjęcia z zeszłorocznych wakacji w Londynie. Robiliśmy je specjalnym filtrem, przez co wyglądają na ołówkowe rysunki. Do tego (znów :) ) dużo gazy, masa MS, Primowe żywiczne dodatki, trochę papierowych elementów Kaisercraft i wyrazowe naklejki Tima Holtza. No i czarny Distress.

One does not live solely on paper. :) I'm into album making again, but this time I used burlap as my base - I've been thinking of making something like that for quite a while now. It's in black and white and I used photos from our last year's holiday in London. We took those using a special filter so they look like pencil drawings. Lots of gause (again), MS crafter's clay, Prima resin embellishments, some Kaisercraft paper elements and Tim Holtz word stickers. And Black Soot Distress Ink.

Tag podróżny / A journey tag

ZaTimowałam się bardzo ostatnio znów. :) Na kolejne poniedziałkowe wyzwanie w Simon Says Stamp - 'Podróż' - powstał prosty tag z użyciem Distress Inków - jakoś tak mi się kolory połączyły, jak jeszcze nigdy wcześniej. Fajnie tak dotrzeć do kolorów, których się nigdy wcześniej nie doświadczyło. Wycinki z papierów - Tim, stempel - Tim, no, słowem, nuda. ;)

I've been Timming a lot again recently. :) Entering another Monday Simon Says Stamp challenge - 'Journey' - with a simple tag this time, using Distress Inks. The colours have blended like never before. There's something cool in getting to colours that one has not previously experienced. Paper elements - Tim's, stamp - Tim's, to put it bluntly- boooring. ;)

Stojaczek na szpulki / A spool stand

Nie wiem czy też tak macie, czy to tylko moja przypadłość, ale jeżeli nie mam którychś ze swoim przydasi na widoku, łatwo o nich zapominam. Tak się stało między innymi z kilkoma pięknymi materiałowymi wstążkami, które niedawno odkopałam. Postanowiłam więc zrobić stojaczek na takie skarby, taki, na którym jednocześnie mogłabym wieszać różne kawałki i resztki, które do tej pory lądowały w najróżniejszych miejscach. W tym celu okleiłam drewniane pudełko po jakichś scrapowych elementach - całe pokryłam klejem a potem taśmami washi - trick, którego nauczyłam się gdzieś w internetach od kogoś, kto był na warsztacie u Tima Holtza z shadowboxów Configurations. Taśmą washi okleiłam też kilka drewnianych patyczków (nie mam pojęcia skąd się wzięły :) ). Szpulki postarzyłam Distress Ink Vintage Photo i okleiłam papierami z kolekcji Idea-ology French Industrial. Dodałam też dwie buteleczki - w mniejszej znalazły się już małe Timowe ćwieki, w drugim - nie wiem jeszcze co będzie. Szpulki i buteleczki trzymają się swoich miejsc za pomocą rzepów. Bardzo mnie cieszy ten nowy element na craftowym stole. :)

I don't know if you experience this too or if it's only me, but if I don't have some of my crafting gear out and visible, I quite easily forget about it. That's what happened with some beautiful fabric ribbons that I have recently dug out. I decided to make a stand for them, one that would also let me put away some pieces of ribbons and laces that have so far landed in mostly undefined places. To do this I started by covering a wooden box that used to store some chipboard elements with glue and then with washi tapes - a trick I learned online from someone who in turn learned it at a Configurations shadowbox workshop with Tim Holtz. I also used the washi around some wooden sticks (no idea where these came from :) ). I inked the spools with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and embellished with Idea-ology French Industrial papers. I also added two bottles - the smaller one stores TH mini-fasteners, and I still don't know what I'm going to put in the second one. The spools and the bottles hold on to the box with velcro. I'm really happy to have this addition to my crafting table. :)

"Grow" tag

Dzień dzisiejszy upłynął między innymi na tagowaniu - a ponieważ złapałam się za media, i znów usiadłam do płytek, a nagrzewnicy nadal się nie dorobiłam, wysychania i czekania było całkiem sporo. :)

Today has been, among others, about making a tag - and because I grabbed my media and had another go at art tiles, and I still haven't got myself a heat tool, there was quite a lot of drying and waiting involved. :)

Tło powstało przez powyginanie papieru, potraktowanie wypukłości tuszem Distress Ink Vintage Photo, a następnie zmieszanie z wodą tuszy Peeled Paint i Crushed Olive i pojeżdżenie po nich powierzchnią taga. Tak to wyglądało na tym etapie:

To make the background, I crumpled the paper, gave it touch of Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then mixed Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive inks with water and smeared the tag all around. This is what my background looked like at that stage:

Następnie postemplowałam brzegi taga kwiatowym stemplem z serii Prima Divine, a na środku nastemplowałam drzewo z zestawu Inkandinkado. Jakieś takie mi się wszystko wydało jednolite i mało ciekawe, więc postanowiłam złamać nudę czerwienią i miodową maską.

Then I stamped the edges with a flower stamp from the Prima Divine collection, and put an Inkadinkado tree in the middle. All the green seemed a bit dull so I decided to add a bit of red with my honeycomb stencil.

Za dodatki posłużyła roślinka-tekturka, potraktowana tymi samymi kolorami Distressów i kawałek postemplowanego kartonu kraftowego.

The embellishments are a plant chipboard piece, coloured with the same Distress Inks and a piece of stamped crafting paper.

Kremową wstążeczkę pokolorowałam tuszem w kolorze Crushed Olive, zmięłam niemiłosiernie i zostawiłam. :)

I coloured a piece of cream seam binding with Crushed Olive, crumpled it mercilessly and left it to dry. :)

No i gwóźdź programu. :) Największa płytka, jaką do tej pory stworzyłam. Kawałek tektury, coś nadającego fakturę, preparat Glue 'n' Seal (oczekiwanie na wyschnięcie nr 1) i srebrna farba akrylowa na początek (oczekiwanie na wyschnięcie nr 2).

Time came for the centrepiece. :) The biggest art tile I've done so far. A piece of chipboard, something to add texture, some Glue 'n' Seal (waiting for it to dry, round 1) and some silver acrylic paint to start (waiting for it to dry, round 2).

Dalej znów pobawiłam się stemplem Primy (czarny to tusz Archival Ink - oczekiwanie na wyschnięcie nr 3 :) ) i znów tymi samymi kolorami Distressów, żeby mi płytka pasowała do pracy.

Then I used the Prima flower stamp again (the black ink is Archival ink - waiting for it to dry, round 3 :) ) and the same colours of Distress Inks, so that my tile marched my tag.

Potem jeszcze 'przesłanie' taga - wybrałam wyraz 'grow', bo krótko i trafnie określa to, co najbardziej cenię w osobie, która zostanie tagiem obdarowana - to, że się cały czas uczy, rozwija, 'rośnie'. Jednocześnie 'grow' fajnie zgrało mi się z kwiatowo-listną tematyką.

Then the 'message' - I chose the word 'grow' as it sums up what I most appreciate about the person who is about to receive the tag - the fact that she never stops learning, developing, 'growing'. At the same time, 'grow' went well with the flowers&leaves theme.

W końcu przyszedł czas na Glossy Accents, żeby się kawałek papieru stał docelową 'płytką'. Nie pomyślałabym wcześniej, że takie wydajne to Glossy Accents jest. Jak zaczynałam robić płytki, sądziłam, że zaraz go nie będzie, a dopiero dziś dotarłam do mniej-więcej 50% zużycia (małego opakowania!).

Finally, it was time for Glossy Accents, so that the piece of paper became the 'tile'. I didn't expect Glossy Accents to be so efficient. When I started making tiles, I thought it would be gone in a flash, but it was only today that I hit the 'more-or-less 50% used' mark (and that's a small bottle!).

Brakowało mi silnego akcentu, więc postanowiłam część wstążki, przeznaczonej początkowo na dużą kokardę wcale nie u góry tylko gdzieś na środku, poświęcić na 'zawieszkę' na metalowe listki.

When I assembled all pieces together to see how they looked, I decided something was missing, so I used some of the seam binding (which was supposed to form a big bow in the middle) to hang some metal leaves from the top.

Wiosenna stopklatka / A spring snapshot

W związku z nadchodzącą powoli wiosną i zainspirowana licznymi tematycznymi wyzwaniami - stworzyłam zielono-kwiatowo-motyli layout. LO jest bez-zdjęciowe, ale w zamian za to samo całe robi za zdjęcie, ma być czymś w rodzaju 'wiosennej stopklatki'.

Inspired by the slowly approaching spring and the many spring-themed challenges, I created a green-flowery-butterfly-ish layout. I wanted not to include a photo, but instead I wanted to make it a kind of an imaginary photo in itself - something like a 'spring snapshot'.

Żeby stworzyć tło, na blado-zielonym kartonie użyłam maski z kleksami i stempla-liścia - w ruch poszły Distress Inks: Old Paper, Peeled Paint i Crushed Olive.

To create the background, I used an ordinary light-green piece of cardstock and used a blots stencil and a leaf stamp together with Distress Inks: Old Paper, Peeled Paint and Crushed Olive.

Potem, żeby otrzymać efekt 'stopklatki', użyłam na brzegach maski-'kliszy' i tuszu Vintage Photo.

Then, to get the 'snapshot effect', I used a 'film roll' stencil and Vintage Photo ink.

Efekt wyglądał tak: / The result was:

Chciałam przy okazji pobawić się w kolorowanie pasty modelującej, więc odrobinę Ayeeda Medium zmieszałam z zieloną farbą akrylową.

I also wanted to play around colouring my modeling paste, so I mixed a little bit of the Ayeeda Medium with green acrylic paint.

Ponieważ dodałam mało farby, wyszło mi z tego coś dosyć ciekawie miętowego...

I used a small amount of paint and ended up getting an interesting kind of mint green...

No a potem było już szaleństwo dekorowania - kwiatki zakręciłam własnoręcznie z papierów Papermanii i potuszowałam, papierowe motyle wycięłam z zestawu papierów Olde Curiosity Shoppe Graphic 45, do tego jeszcze dołożyłam ciemnozieloną dekoracyjną taśmę pozostałą po prezencie, który kiedyś od kogoś dostałam, motylowe naklejki, filcowe listki i trochę zawijasów z zielonego drutu. 

Then, the madness of embellishment started - I made the flowers myself from Papermania papers and inked them up, I fussy cut some Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe butterflies, added pieces of a dark green decorative ribbon, some buttefly stickers, felt leaves and some green wire swirls.
