Monochromatyczny lew / Monochromatic lion

Dziś przygotowałam mały blejtram stworzony prawie wyłącznie z elementów odciskanych z foremek - w centrum znalazła się głowa dostojnego lwa, a dookoła niej industrialne elementy i łby śrubek.

Today I've prepared a small canvas made almost exclusively with clay mould prints - in the centre, there's the lion head and around it a whole lot of industrial elements and screw heads. 

Mogłoby się wydawać, że silne mediowanie lekkiej, schnącej na powietrzu masy plastycznej to nienajlepszy pomysł, ale dzięki mocnemu przyklejeniu elementów do podłoża za pomocą gęstego żelu 3D heavy body Renesansu oraz warstwie gessa Maimeri, którym pokryłam wszystkie odciski, dalsze mediowanie nie sprawiło żadnych problemów.

It would seem that heavy media work on air-dry clay elements is not the best idea, but thanks to 3D heavy body gel medium from Renesans, which I used to glue down the elements and a layer of Maimeri gesso, which I covered all the clay elements with, the further media work was effortless.

Po przyklejeniu na blejtram, wszystkie elementy pokryłam postarzającym kremem DecoArt Antiquing Cream w kolorze czarnym, który po wyschnięciu starłam mokrą chusteczką z wystających części - czarny kolor pozostał w zagłębieniach, wydobywając przestrzenność pracy - i przede wszystkim lwa! :)

After gluing down the elements, I covered them with black DecoArt Antiquing Cream. Once it dried, I removed the black from the raised areas of the project with a wet wipe - the cream remained in the recesses, highlighting the dimensionality of the project - and especially the lion! :)

Przed przyklejeniem elementów, tło blejtramu pokryłam czarną farbą akrylową DecoArt, następnie przezroczystym preparatem do spękań Renesansu (działa na podobnej zasadzie co Weathered Wood DecoArt), dzięki któremu nałożona na końcu biała Crackle Paint mocno popękała mimo tego, że nałożyłam jej cienką warstwę.

Before gluing down the elements, I worked on the canvas background - covered it with DecoArt black acrylic paint and then Renesans clear crackling medium (which works similarly to DecoArt's Weathered Wood), thanks to which the final layer of Crackle Paint did some proper crackling despite the thin layer I applied.

Coś czuję, że to nie jedyny lew, którego zmediuję. :)

I have the feeling it's not the last lion I will be media-ing. :)

A steampunk galaxy

Nowe wyzwanie na blogu SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges rzuca temat 'new stash/forgotten stash', czyli przydasie nowe/przydasie zapomniane. Ja połączyłam obydwa tematy używając odkopanego niedawno drutu do stworzenia tła - drutem obwiązałam blejtram i pociągnęłam całą powierzchnię za pomocą żel medium - oraz moich nowych kolorów mgiełek DecoArt.

The new challenge at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges is all about 'new stash/forgotten stash'. I combined the two themes using a recently re-discovered stash of copper wire from my jewellery-making days to create the background texture - I wrapped the wire around the canvas and glued it down with gel medium - and my new colors of DecoArt Misters. 

Mgiełki w kolorach Purple, Shimmer Turquoise, Shimmer Violet i Shimmer White stworzyły nieco 'kosmiczny' klimat, a na tym tle znalazły się różne steampunkowe odlewy z masy plastycznej. Wszystkie wystające elementy pociągnęłam srebrną pastą Metallic Lustre.

The Misters in Purple, Shimmer Turquoise, Shimmer Violet and Shimmer White created a somewhat 'outer space-y' look and on this background, I installed some steampunk clay elements. All the raised areas were finally highlighted with silver Metallic Lustre.

 

'Best of Steampunk' Challenge

Ten rok na wyzwaniowym blogu steampunkowym SanDee&amelie's rozpoczynamy spojrzeniem wstecz na nasze ulubione steampunkowe projekty. Pierwszy, który wybrałam, to steampunkowa łąka z latającymi świniami sprzed prawie trzech lat - ten projekt był bardzo pracochłonny, ale nadal pozostaje jednym z moich ulubionych.

This year at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges, we start with a look back at our favourite steampunk projects. My first pick is a steampunk meadow with flying pigs from almost three years ago - it was very time-consuming to make but until this day it remains one of my favourites.

Drugi projekt to malusi kapelusz, który kiedyś ulepiłam z masy plastycznej i ozdobiłam tycimi trybikami.

The second one is a tiny top hat I made from crafter's clay and embellished with tiny gears.

Trzeci projekt to skrzynka sprzed około pół roku - wciąż bardzo podoba mi się ten rdzawy efekt kolorystyczny.

The third project is a box from around 6 months ago - I still really like the rusty colour effect.

Tak więc tym razem aby wziąć udział w wyzwaniu nie róbcie nowego projektu, a wybierzcie trzy ulubione ze swoich projektów steampunkowych z 2016 roku, stwórzcie z nich nowego posta i tę prezentację zgłoście do wyzwania. Zapraszamy!

Mechanical

Dziś zapraszam do udziału w kolejnym wyzwaniu na blogu SanDee&amelie's pracą bardziej industrialną może niż steampunkową. Gdzieś w przydasiowych czeluściach od dawna leżał pojemnik z całym mnóstwem starych elementów, głównie zegarowych 'drugiej kategorii' - plastikowych albo takich, dla których z poczatku nie znalazłam zastosowania. Używając tych elementów oraz starego okucia dziurki od klucza i primowego kranu stworzyłam kompozycję na blejtramie, klejąc wszystko na duże ilości gęstego żel medium.

Today I invite you to join this month's challenge at SanDee&amelie's with a project that's more industrial than steampunk, I suppose. Somewhere in the dark recesses of my craft storage, there was a box filled with all kinds of junk, mainly 'second rate' clock elements - plastic or somehow more difficult to use. I used those elements, a keyhole fitting and a Prima tap to create a composition on a canvas, using lots of heavy gel medium along the way.

Po sklejeniu całość kompozycji pokryłam farbami metalicznymi Dazzling Metallics w kolorach Moss Pearl, Dark Patina i Zinc. Na koniec wystające elementy przetarłam gęstą srebrną pastą. Niby nic wielkiego, ale widok tych mechanicznych elementów, tych wszystkich wypukłości, jakoś dobrze mi działa na psychikę. :)

After gluing everything together, I covered the composition with Dazzling Metallics in Moss Pearl, Dark Patina and Zinc. Finally, I used some heavy silver rub for highlighting. Doesn't seem like much, but the sight of the mechanical elements and all those crooks and crannies does something good to my psyche. :)

W wyzwaniu jak zwykle do wygrania mediowy zestaw od DecoArt, bardzo namawiam do wzięcia udziału. :)

Your dreams just changed gears

Pora na kolejne wyzwanie na blogu SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges, a moją inspiracją tym razem jest wpis w art journalu.

Time for a fresh challenge at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges, and my inspiration today is a steampunk art journal entry.

Tło powstało z użyciem bibuły Tima Holtza oraz farb DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics w kolorach Yellow Oxide, Cerulean Blue i Quinacridone Violet. Tak - w tle widać efekt mieszania tylko trzech kolorów. Róże i zielenie powstały mimochodem. :) Tło rozbieliłam za pomocą białej farby Transluscent White nakładnej przez maskę.

The background was created using Tim Holtz tissue paper and DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics in Yellow Oxide, Cerulean Blue and Qionacridone Violet. That's right - the colours are the effect of blending only these three shades. The pinks and the greens just came to life on their own. :) I then layered some Transluscent White paint over my background using a stencil.

Tekturki pokryłam najpierw tymi samymi kolorami farb, a następnie nałożyłam warstwę preparatu Weathered Wood. Dzięki niemu spękania, które powstały na końcu za pomocą farby Crackle Paint stały się jeszcze wyraźniejsze i odkryły kolory spodniej warstwy.

The chipboards were first covered with the same colours of paints, then with a layer of Weathered Wood. Thanks to this medium, the cracks that appeared after applying Crackle Paint on top became bigger and uncovered the colours underneath.

Na koniec na tekturki i dookoła nich nałożyłam krem do postarzania Antiquing Cream w kolorze szarym, który następnie częściowo starłam morką chusteczką - dzięki temu tekturki są dodatkowo postarzone, a dookoła nich pozostał cień.

Finally, I applied gray Antiquing Cream on top of the chipboards and around them and then removed it partially with a wet wipe - the chipboards gained an even more weathered look and a nice shadow was created around them.

Pora na kolejne wyzwanie steampunkowe na blogu SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges, zasiadłam więc znów do trybików. Ta niewielka kompozycja powstała z pomocą dużej ilości metalowych elementów, które wraz z drewnianą bazą pomalowałam mieszanką farb DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics: Yellow Oxide, Raw Sienna, Green Gold i Cobalt Turquoise Hue. Bardzo podoba mi się efekt tej palety kolorystycznej, ale nie mogłam sobie odmówić postarzenia całości - wybrałam brązowy Antiquing Cream Raw Umber, który po nałożeniu i potem starciu mokra chusteczką pozostał w rogach i zagłębieniach, dając efekt przybrudzenia. Tym projektem zapraszam do udziału w naszym comiesięcznym steampunkowo-industrialnym wyzwaniu.

Time for another steampunk challenge at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges, so I sat down to play with some gears again. This small composition was made with a fair number of metal elements, which, alongside the wooden base, got covered with a combo of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics: Yellow Oxide, Raw Sienna, Green Gold and Cobalt Turquoise Hue. I really like the end result of using this colour palette, but I couldn't help aging it just a little - I chose Antiquing Cream in Raw Umber, which once applied and then partly removed with a wet wipe, stayed in the corners and nooks, giving the whole thing a distressed look.
